The Format
The Challenger League follows a Round Robin → Qualifier Ladder format
-
Locations:
-
Matches will be hosted at Legion & Moore Park and scheduled weekly based on players’ availability for optimal convenience.
-
-
Round Robin Stage (Weeks 1-8)
-
Each group participates in a round-robin format, ensuring that every player competes against all other players in their assigned skill group.
-
8-10 players per group → Each player will complete 8 matches (1 per week).
-
Flexibility built in for travel and work commitments.
-
-
Qualifier Ladder Stage (Weeks 9-12)
-
After the round-robin matches, the top-performing players in each group advance to the Qualifier Ladder.
-
Players are seeded based on win-loss record, set differentials, and overall performance.
-
Ladder Playoffs → Higher-seeded players get a first-round bye; the competition intensifies as players battle their way up the ladder.
-
The finals determine the group champions in each skill level.
-
-
End-of-Season Tournament (Weeks 11-12)
-
A championship event wraps up the season with celebrations, awards, and community building.
-
All players will enter into the end-of-season tournament and be seeded according to league match ranking
-
Finalists compete for prizes, recognition, and ultimate bragging rights as the season's top players will become the Challenger League Champions.
-
-
Match Timing & Rules
-
Matches are timed (60-90 minutes). If a match cannot be completed, the current score stands unless both players agree to continue at a later date.
-
Players are responsible for scheduling and reporting scores within the assigned week.
-

Program Flexibility
We understand that life happens and you have to keep living, so flexibility has been already accounted for for those who travel often or know their work schedules ahead of time...
-
Missed Matches
-
Players who miss matches due to travel will not be penalized in rankings beyond the missed match.
-
Rankings will be determined based on the number of matches played, and missed matches will be excluded from the ranking formula if the player gives proper notice and reschedules.
-
-
Make-Up Matches:
-
Players are allowed to reschedule up to 2 matches during the season if they know they will miss their assigned match week. All schedules will be collected for each player before finalizing matches
-
-
Forfeited Matches:
-
If a player misses a match without notifying the 821 director or their opponent, the match will be considered a forfeit.
-
A forfeited match will count as a loss for the absent player, and the present player will be awarded a win.
-
-
Holiday Weeks: All holiday weeks will be considered "bye" weeks (no matches or practices), so players do not need to worry about scheduling conflicts during those times.
-
Travel and Vacations: Miss up to 2 weeks straight without question! We understand that these are recreational matches and flexibility is key.
